A washing station in Konga village, six kilometres from the town of Yirgacheffe

Konga village, in the Yirgacheffe district of Gedeo Zone, southern Ethiopia. The Amederaro washing station was established in 2018 and collects cherries from around 1,890 smallholder farmers nearby. Most of them grow heirloom varieties on small plots around their homes, the so-called garden coffee. Ripe cherries harvested at 2,000 m are dried whole on African beds as a natural process.
